In 2025 we welcomed Shelley in our studio, she has had mastectomy after her breast cancer diagnosis in 2022 and wished to capture her body as it is now. “I’ve had breast cancer and a mastectomy and because my body has been through such a massive change, I wanted to capture my body”
“I was so scared of the surgery and what my body was going to look like but to get a sculpture done of what my body looks like now, is a reminder of the journey my body has been on, the journey I’ve been on with my body and its strength and resilience. It is such a beautiful way to capture the body as a work of art, to capture the intimacy and beautifulness of bodies, regardless of whether they’ve got two boobs, one boob, whether you’re pregnant or not, I just think it’s such a beautiful thing to be able to see yourself as this gorgeous sculpture and to look and yourself and go – oh my god, I’m a work of art!”
