“I have never felt more body confident than I did during my pregnancies. I felt like I was in full bloom and absolutely loved having my bump. After having my first daughter I found I missed my bump and didn’t have enough pictures to commemorate it and the amazing journey my body had been on. Whilst pregnant with my second daughter I found milestoneable on Instagram, and knew straight away that a 3D sculpture of my pregnant body would be the perfect way to capture my bump in a way I could look back on and celebrate forever.”
How did you prepare for your session? Do you have any tips for women who will have their session soon?
I had been following milestoneable on Instagram for some time and admiring the different poses and finishes for the sculptures. One of the best things that helped me prepare was a video shared to your stories of somebody doing a ‘walk through’ of themselves getting their photos taken for their sculpture. It helped me to find the entrance and the studio and took a lot of guesswork and worry out of the experience. Otherwise, all I did to prepare was buy a seamless thong from John Lewis!
Tell me about how you experienced creating and receiving your sculpture
The posing session felt great. I was photographed by Carly, who was so warm and friendly that I was immediately at ease. I didn’t feel at all self conscious, and it was like magic seeing the 3D image of myself come together on the computer screen!
I had been following milestoneable for a while before my session and admiring the photos of other sculptures shared on the account which helped in finding the right pose. At first I liked the ‘one arm across the chest’ pose, but over time following I saw lots of different poses and changed my mind. I think the pregnant body is so beautiful, and I loved the poses where the bump is cradled, as it captures the feeling of nurture and love that I felt I wanted to convey in my sculpture.
Although I was impatient to receive my sculpture, it was really special to get it after my baby was born and to remember what we both looked like only a few months previously! I just loved it as soon as I saw it.
My sculpture is now on my dressing table, so I see it and admire it everyday. I love that I will always have it as a record of my second pregnancy and of my youthful body when I’m older. I look forward to my daughter being old enough to show her her first home, and I think it sets a great example to my daughters that our bodies are beautiful and powerful and should be celebrated!
Is there anything else you wish to share with us?
I wish I could go back in time and get a sculpture of my body pre-pregnancies, and one of my bump from my first pregnancy!
